Total retail spending hit an estimated $59.1 billion over the Black Friday weekend (Thursday through Sunday), projects the NRF, representing 12.8% growth from $52.4 billion last year. That increase was driven by a greater number of shoppers, particularly on Thanksgiving Day (+23.2%). In fact, in-store sales grew by an impressive 70.8% year-over-year on Thanksgiving, according to the Chase Holiday Pulse, though they dipped by 7.2% on Black Friday. (more…)
